I think this place is amazing for dim sum on Sundays. Even though it tends to get extremely busy, I am willing to wait. I don't know very many places in SA that has dim sum on carts, which is a must when I'm eating. Chicken feet and shumai, what more do you need????
Additionally, they sell more than just dim sum. They have entrees that look delicious and weekly specials. The variety changes quite a bit. Some of their food looks extremely authentic Chinese food but they also have dishes that are very Americanized like orange chicken.
Something also that I found out was the restaurant will give you food pellets for the koi outside. It passes the time if you have little kids around-- pretty awesome idea. -

There is a lot of hate for the Wok here and I don't really get it. Their lunch special is one of the best in the city:
1. Delicious egg drop soup
2. An ample serving of the main dish
3. Pork fried rice at no extra charge
4. House made egg roll bursting with fresh filling (not Wal*mart rolls)
5. Iced-tea included
6. $7.19 plus tax
People of Yelp, THIS IS LESS THAN AN A-1 THICK & HEARTY COMBO!!!
What are the comps in that price range? Panda? Beijing? Put anything at Golden Wok up against Panda or any other $7 combo and GW comes out on top in terms of quality and value per dollar (in my opinion of course) every time.
I guess it is the fact that they offer dim-sum (which is an awesome thing btw) and there is a koi pond that puts some people in "fancy restaurant review" mode thus judging it harsher than they should. If the same lunch special for the same price came from a dingy hole-in-the-wall type joint, I believe the reviews would have a different tone, and I don't think that is fair.
Bottom line, Golden Wok = bang for the buck. -

This is the place to go for authentic dim sum! Everything we got was delicious. The wait was 30 minutes at noon on a Sunday. My favorite was the Shumai egg tart. It was so flaky & moist, I don't think I've ever had a fresh egg tart like that before.
The koi garden outside was also so pretty! -

This is the first dim sum place I tried in San Antonio, and it was exceeded my expectations. Nothing was too greasy or slimy. All the dishes tasted really good, with a variety of flavor and textures. We also got Bo-Lay tea, and I think that was what allowed me to leave feel full and not like I needed to explode or sleep to digest my food. Overall, I would definitely go again.

I don't know which was drier- the chicken or the rice. I arrived early and had to wait 10 minutes before even being acknowledged to then pick up a cold dinner. I WILL NOT be going back.
